Comic Relief 2022 got off to an awkward start on Friday evening as Paddy McGuinness left his co-hosts stunned with a rather rude joke.

BBC viewers were left in shock when the TV presenter, 48, made what sounded like an X-rated joke at the beginning of the show, which aims to help people living incredibly tough lives both in the UK and across the world.

As the event kicked off, hosts Paddy, Alesha Dixon, David Tennant and Sir Lenny Henry ventured onto the stage - but things soon turned awkward.

Addressing the audience,Sir Lenny said: 'Now hang on, hang on. You all look lovely, but I do have one small criticism. You're a bit underdressed, but don't worry, we've got that covered. Are you ready, guys?'

All four hosts in unison then exclaimed: 'Release the noses', before Paddy hit a giant red button, sending the entire audience into a frenzy.

Paddy soon left his co-hosts red-faced as he added: 'Oh, no. No, sorry, excuse me. Excuse me. Mate, it's supposed to go on your nose.'

Shaking his head, he added: 'Sorry, that was my cousin.'

Almost immediately, Paddy's fellow hosts looked embarrassed as he made what seemed to be an X-rated joke - leaving viewers disappointed.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: Did anyone just get what Paddy meant by that? Sounded a bit naughty.'

A second added: 'Paddy and bad jokes. Anything new?'
